Season of Lent /

Father, may we again hear the Message that is central to Your holy Word
and, is also central to our lives, that is, that out of Your amazing love, You
sent Your dear Son to die on a cross and to be raised to Life again. For in
this Message alone do we experience purposeful lives empowered with
the Holy Spirit’s energy. We ask in the name of Your dear Son, Christ
Jesus, the One who died for our sins and was raised again for our
justification. Amen!

Christ was not afraid of a confrontation. He spoke truth to power with the Pharisees and called King Herod a fox. Before Him, Jeremiah also told truth to power. Jeremiah almost lost his life for this, and Jesus did. However, Jesus’ ultimate confrontation brings us the ultimate comfort. By confronting sin, death, and the devil, Christ triumphed. Through His resurrection we may know the comfort that comes from knowing Him – this week, on Sola Gratia.

Christ has fulfilled the law. What none of us can do, Christ has done perfectly…for us…for free. Christ is the end of the law for all who believe. We have been made righteous by Christ’s sacrifice. Not for us to be better able to fulfill the law ourselves, but so that we may know Him through faith. The demands of the law are finished.
